What is the Faith Leaders Network?

We are a network of leaders from different faith groups across Barking and Dagenham, united by a desire to meet local needs through practical acts of service.

Typically already engaged in projects and outreach activities individually, our members come together to build relationships, share experiences and learning, and develop and deliver new collaborative programmes of support, avoiding duplication and multiplying our impact.

Our current focus is health inequalities.

With Barking and Dagenham having a significantly worse life expectancy for residents than the national average and with preventable diseases such as certain forms of cancer linked to lifestyle choices and cardiovascular disease, our communities need support to change these figures.

The Faith Leaders Network will be running projects through it’s members to help their communities deal with some of these challenges. Faith groups will be able to design projects that tackle particular health inequalities present in their groups, while also providing messaging and signposting to other health initiatives. The faith leaders will also have access to health professionals, who will be able to provide advice, help run sessions particularly around health screening, and provide health messaging.
